With the smell of sufganiyot (doughnuts) in the air and the sounds of Chanukah melodies played by indomitable musicians on the Ben Yehuda Midrachov outside our office window, it leaves little doubt that the Holiday of Light is upon us.
It is clear that our growing Masorti communities with their educational, religious and cultural programs, along with our youth and young adult activities, are bringing light to our communities around the world. We have succeeded in illuminating the darkness and rekindling sparks in Eastern Europe and the FSU. We continue to provide the light of hope to the Bnei Anusim (Conversos) who are seeking to live their lives as Jews in Portugal and other countries. We shine with pride when we gather to celebrate our accomplishments in regional conferences in Europe and South America. We glow with satisfaction as we are contacted by new communities who want to affiliate with us.
We need your help to keep the flames going and ensure the growth of Masorti Olami around the world. Join us in establishing and sustaining the option of Conservative/Masorti Judaism to our communities. Contact us for more information about Bar/Bat Mitzvah projects, synagogue twinning possibilities, donations in honor or memory of loved ones and friends, and projects in need of funding. Write to: rhammerman@masortiworld.org or mail@masortiolami.org
Please continue to share your activities with us so we can post the news on our web site www.masortiworld.org and in our future e-mail reports. If you know of others who would like to be included on our mailing list, please let us know.
Wishing you a Chag Urim Sameach,
Judy Dvorak Gray
